Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
Born in Marietta, Ohio on Oct. 11, 1857, the son of lithographer Charles Jacob Currier and nephew of Nathaniel Currier of Currier & Ives.  Edward's art studies were at the Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago and with G. L. Clough in New York.  He settled in San Francisco in 1882 into a studio in the old "Monkey Block" (now the Transamerica Pyramid) which housed many other local artists.  Working in oil and watercolor, his subjects include landscapes, coastal scenes, still lifes, views of San Francisco, and an occasional seascape. Much of his early work was lost in the earthquake and fire of 1906.  Currier died at his studio-home at 1002 Ellis Street on Nov. 15, 1918. Exh: Mechanics Inst. (SF), 1896-97; SFAA, 1896-97; Calif. State Fair, 1899-1902; Starr King Fraternity, 1905; Alaska-Yukon Expo (Seattle), 1909 (silver medal). In: Santa Cruz City Museum; CHS; City of Monterey Collection; Society of Calif. Pioneers.
