| Emmasita Corson was born in Delaware. S he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts under William Merritt Chase and Thomas Anshutz as well as privately with Edward Redfield. She was a member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Club and a Fellow of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
In 1903, she purchased a farm near the Phillips Mill, just outside of New Hope. She was one of the founders of the New Hope Art Colony and one of the earliest women painters of this group. She often summered in Fire Island with her daughter, Emily, who enjoyed playing at the beach while her mother painted. Throughout her life, Corson maintained a close friendship with her former teacher, Edward Redfield.
She exhibited at the Annual Watercolor Exhibition held by the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Watercolor Club, the American Pavilion of the Roman Exposition, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Worcester Art Museum. One of her paintings, Summer Afternoon, was originally owned by the Solebury National Bank in New Hope and was on display behind the tellers' window for many years.
