A portrait painter, illustrator and sculptor, Christopherson fulfilled  commissions for portraits of five South Dakota Governors, and painted the official portrait of Korczak Ziokowski, sculptor of the Crazy Horse Memorial. In addition, many of his paintings were published in print editions and used on collectors' plates.

Eugene Christopherson died on November 13, 2007 at the age of 68.
