This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
Born in Mexico, Fernando Castillo began his artistic career in 1928 when he joined the Centro Popular de Pintura directed by Gabriel
Fernández Ledesma.
Castillo’s first drawings conveyed his impeccable technique and talent. One of his first drawings was exhibited
at the Pabellón de Mexico during the Feria Internacional de Sevilla in 1929, where it received the silver award.
His artwork reveals a
carefree creative spirit in which the richness and simplicity of his compositions converge in a harmonious manner.
