| | Painter. Born in Emmishofen, Switzerland on May 3, 1877. Brother Cornelius (ne Hermann Emanuel Braeg) immigrated to Philadelphia in 1883. After becoming a member of the Christian Brothers, he moved to California in 1906 and became an art teacher at St Mary's College, a position he was to hold for the rest of his life. He studied at the Mark Hopkins Institute, CCAC, and UC Berkeley (M.A. in 1921). He is best known as the author of two volumes on the life of Wm Keith entitled, Keith, Old Master of California (1942). He often signed his watercolors and pastels: BFC. Brother Cornelius died in an automobile accident near Placerville, CA on Jan. 29, 1962. Exh: CPLH, 1945.
