This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Known for her murals and stain-glass windows, Genevieve Cowles was also a painter and illustrator whose work included Hawthorne's "House of Seven Gables" and illustrations for "Scribner's" and "McClure's" magazines.

She, along with her twin sister, Maude, was born in Farmington, Connecticut, and they had parallel careers. She studied at Yale University.

Genevieve and Maude did several mural decorations including ones for Christ Church in New Haven, Connecticut and Grace Church in New York City.
