He attended both the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (1967-69) and the Cooper Union in New York City (1969-71). He also studied with Henry Hensche at the Cape School of Art and at the San Carlos Academy in Mexico City with noted muralist Edward Laning.

Crosby divides his time between Maine and Key West, Florida.
