| A portrait and figure painter in realist style and also a writer, Gertrude Colles has work at the State House in Trenton, New Jersey. She was born in New Jersey, and studied in New York City at the Art Students League and in Paris at the Académie Julian and the Académie Delacluse. Among her teachers in Paris was Jean Paul Laurens.
Exhibition venues included the National Academy of Design in New York.
