This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Greg Constantine was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and earned his Bachelor of Arts from Andrews in 1960, then his Master of Fine Arts degree from Michigan State University in 1968. Professor Constantine is a prolific painter, with a record of 47 one-person exhibits in the USA and Europe (18 of them in premier New York City galleries). In addition, he participated in 62 group shows. He was awarded Artist-in-Residence status and has received 19 research grants from various sources. He has published three widely acclaimed books of his drawings infused with sophisticated humor: (Vincent van Gogh Visits New York, Knopf 1983; Leonardo Visits Los Angeles, Knopf 1985; and Picasso Visits Chicago, Chicago Review Books 1986). Visiting New York City five or six times (many times with students) in each of the last 40 years has allowed him to gain a comprehensive knowledge of the art world there.
