This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Artists Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla have been collaborating since 1995, living part of the year in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and part in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Many of their projects have focused on the island of Vieques, which until recently was rented by the United States as a bombing test site.
They often work with activist groups to address "a changing public sphere in an age of globalization." Their work includes drawing installations, digital photography, sculptural works, and community collaborations.
In the past two years, they have appeared in "Common Wealth" at Tate Modern and "How Latitudes Become Forms: Art in a Global Age" at the Walker Art Center (both 2003), as well as Dak' Art: The Biennial of African Contemporary Art (2004). In the Summer of 2005 they will contribute to the Venice Biennale.
