Biography: Janet Cohen studied at the Sorbonne, Paris France, and Barnard College in the 1930s. She was the co-director of the Bercone Art Studio from 1960-70, in New York City. She had many exhibitions including The Bronx Museum, New York in 1989; The Lehman College Gallery, New York in 1990; and Borough Presidents Gallery, New York in 1988.
She painted in the United States and Europe, and according to her, her most important teacher who had special influence on her career, was Aaron Berkman.
