| The following, submitted January 2005, is from Daniel R. Gordon, owner of work by the artist. Jenny Petria Collin was born in Sweden sometime in the late 1800s. A painter and sculptor, Collin was a pupil of Roscoe Mullins in London before moving to the Chicago area where records indicate that she exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1911. Sometime during World War I she moved to San Francisco, California where she exhibited with the San Francisco Art Association (SFAA) 1916-18. She also exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) during 1918.
By the early 1920s records show her being active in the New York City area with exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art (WMAA) 1921-23, and she had an exhibition of her paintings, drawings, and sculptures at the Art Center in New York City January 15-27 during the last year (1925) that it was located at 65 East 56th Street.
An impressionist, Jenny Collin did oils included paintings of the California coast and landscapes. She preferred her middle name Petria to her first name Jenny and normally signed her works J. Petria Collin.
