| Born in Illinois on March 24, 1857. Crook studied at the AIC and taught art in Chicago for more than ten years. He further studied at the Royal Academy in Berlin. By 1903 he had settled in Portland, OR; however, he made painting excursions to northern California, Washington, Canada, and Mexico. Although he worked in oil early in his career, he abandoned that medium for watercolor. A landscape painter, his works are distinguished by fogs and opalescent hues of hazy mornings and late afternoo (showing 500 of 781 characters). |
