| Portrait painter, Joseph Greenleaf Cole worked in Boston from 1836 to 1847, from 1855 to 1858, and he also painted in Portland, Maine.
He was the son of Moses Dupre Cole, and brother of Charles Octavius Cole and Lyman Emerson Cole.
