The following, submitted October 2004, is from Jane Millette, great-great grand-daughter of the artist.
According to his obituary - March 24, 1896, "The Natchez Democrat", Natchez, MS, he was born in 1806 - not 1812 as some art historians have listed. He lived to the age of 90. He painted, in addition to cityscapes, interiors of railway coaches and the steamship, S.S. Savannah, the first vessel of its size to routinely make the transatlantic crossing. He painted Confederate banners and fl (showing 500 of 833 characters). |
