Watercolorist Lee Weiss is noted for her experimentation with technique in order to produce unique effects on her paintings. Weiss attempts to capture glimpses of nature in her paintings. Her subjects include up close views of swamp grass swaying in the breeze and snow on branches.

Weiss was born in California in 1928. She attended the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. Lee Weiss studied painting with Alexander Nepote and N. Eric Oback.

The artist has been awarded many honors for her work including the Medal of Honor for Watercolor at the Knickerbocker Artists, the Emily Lowe Memorial Award and the Henry Ward Ranger Fund Purchase Award at The American Watercolor Society. Three of her paintings were selected by the Smithsonian Institution to hang in the White House in 1969 and 1972.

Lee Weiss lives in Wisconsin.
