| | Born in Italy on Aug. 10, 1885. Cardini came to the U.S. at the outbreak of WWI. He worked in the East briefly before moving to California. He spent many years working for publisher Wm R. Hearst at San Simeon before settling in San Francisco. Cardini died there on April 9, 1969. | Source:
