| | Born in Chicago, IL on June 11, 1887. Calkins studied at the AIC under Vanderpoel, Yale University, and with Duveneck. He was a resident of Chicago and Hingham, MA before moving to Los Angeles in the early 1940s. He died there on June 16, 1960.
