| Lucien Curtis was born in Coventry, CT in 1819. Curtis came across the plains to San Francisco with the Gold Rush of 1849. He first was collector of internal revenue and later a copper-plate engraver. He was the father of artist Mary Curtis Richardson. He died in San Francisco in 1899.
