Lucius A. Crowell (1911-1988)
He was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1911. A realist painter who enjoyed depicting the everyday world with a touch of romanticism, he was well-known for his seemingly unstylized execution.
A graduate of the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, he attended Williams College before studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and then independently with Franklin Watkins and Arthur B. Carles. He continued his studies at the Barnes (showing 500 of 1864 characters). |
