| | Born in Malmos, Sweden in 1838. Collin was a pupil at the Copenhagen College of Arts. He came to the U.S. at the onset of the Civil War and served in the Navy for the duration. He then taught art at universities of Michigan, Colorado, Utah and the Crocker Art Gallery in Sacramento. He came to live at the Old Soldier's Home in Los Angeles in 1901. While there, he painted War Scene which was reproduced in the Times.
