This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Creating effusive, highly decorative ceramic vases, Mary Ellen Carroll hearkens back to the grand 18th-century European traditions that influenced her during a residency in Sevres, France.  She also does environmental public artwork including indestructible language, a text piece that wrapped around five buildings of the former American can company in Jersey City.  With neon letters eight-feet high, the work could be seen from the New Jersey turnpike and to fliers landing at the Newark Airport.
