| A painter and teacher, Mary Susan Collins was born in Michigan and studied art in New York City with Arthur Wesley Dow and at Cape Cod with Charles Hawthorn. She also was enrolled at the Art Institute of Chicago, Columbia University, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
Much of her career was in Cleveland, Ohio where she was a member of the Cleveland Women's Art Club and the American Federation of Arts. Exhibition venues included the Pennsylvania Academy, Cleveland Museum of Art, Detroit Institute of Arts and the Great Lakes Exhibition.
Her work is in the Cleveland Museum and the Cleveland Municipal Collection.
