The following information comes from the artist:

Working in metal, ceramic, cast stone and resin, she incorporates poetry, sound and water into her sculpture.

Maryrose Carroll was born in 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, and received a scholarship to the Saturday program of the Art Institute of Chicago at age 13. As an adult she became a teacher in rural Illinois but moved back to Chicago in 1974, living and working in a former charcoal factory. 

She married poet Paul Carroll, and in 1993, they moved to a farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. After her husband's death,Carroll continues to live and work on the farm, creating sculptures assisted by her English partner, Joseph E. Potter.
