Michael Chapman grew up in Orange County, California. The artist painted in high school and during a four year stint in the Navy before attending Fullerton College.
In his painting, Chapman strives to capture the transitory nature of life--cars speeding by, deserted streets, etc. His influences include Edward Hopper, French surrealist Rene Magritte, and French landscape painter Camille Corot. Chapman's austere paintings include unusual elements such as objects off scale and American cars (showing 500 of 815 characters). |
