A New Ralism and Pop Art painter, he is one of the pioneers of Video Art. Cardena was one of the ten artists invited to the cultural soirees of Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands in 1969.
Cardena was born Miguel-Ángel Cárdenas in 1934, in Espinal, Colombia.
