Born in New York City and working from a studio in Greenwich Village,
Muriel Castanis became known for her "fluidly draped figures", many
which have been displayed in public venues such as her cast bronze
reliefs, Flatbush Floogies, in the Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn
College subway station. Her work is also in the collections of
the Detroit Institute of Arts, Norton Museum of Art, IBM Corporation
Atrium in Atlanta, and the library of Mount Holyoke College.
