| Mrs. Muriel Emma Mattocks Cleaves was born in Hastings, NE on June 3, 1894. Mattocks studied at the AIC and with Birger Sandzen. She was a resident of San Diego in 1921 and spent her last years in Staten Island, NY as the wife of Howard Cleaves. She died there in New Brighton on June 7, 1947. Her work includes western flora and fauna, landscapes of Yellowstone Park, California, and Hawaii.
