The following biography has been provided by John Coates, friend & co-author of the artist autobiography.
Nick Cardy was born Nick "Viscardi" on October 16, 1920 in New York City, NY on the lower east side of Manhattan. His parents were first generation immigrants from Italy, who did not speak English. After becoming interested in drawing at the early age of six years old, his first formal art training began in his teen years at the local Boy's Club, which offered free ar (showing 500 of 4049 characters). |
