| Born in Newport, KY on Aug. 30, 1880. Mary Jencques was a pupil of Duveneck at the Cincinnati Art Academy. After her marriage to Fred Coulter in 1902, she moved to Chicago where she studied a variety of crafts (weaving, bookbinding, jewelry, pottery) at the AIC and was the first curator of etchings and engravings at that school. Upon returning from a tour of Europe, she earned a philosophy degree from the University of Chicago. In 1915 her husband died and she came to California where she ser (showing 500 of 4110 characters). |
