This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Paul Chojnowski's dream-like images of figures, streetscenes and landscapes are created using a unique procedure he developed in his studio.
Chojhowski begins each piece with pencil drawings on wood or paper. He then scorches the surface area using a torch being careful to shield the certain areas with metal masks. He then adds the water element creating what he calls a "water-resist" effect. Viewers often mistakes his work as being done with photographs, but they are drawings.
Paul Chojnowski's honors include Alternate Visions, National Endowment for the Arts with funding from the Rockefeller and Andy Warhol Foundations; Visual Art Fellowship , National Endowment for the Arts and the Southern Arts Federation; Award of Recognition, Contemporary Arts Center, North Adams, Massachusetts; Seventeen Days of Olympic Art, City of Atlanta, Bureau of Cultural Affairs and Individual Artist Grant, Georgia Council for the Arts.
