| | Born in South Dakota on Aug. 8, 1884. Carnine learned the printing business in Minneapolis as a teenager. He moved to California and lived in Fresno for several years before settling in Mount Shasta in 1926. He worked as a sign painter and a linotype operator for the Mount Shasta Herald (1942-52). In his leisure he painted scenes of Mount Shasta and the surrounding area.
