| Born in New York on Nov. 26, 1908. Cole was raised in NYC and studied there at the NAD, ASL, and with Frederic Taubes. He moved to Reno, NV in 1924 and, shortly thereafter, studied at the Community Arts in Santa Barbara. During the Depression he painted portraits of Indians for the Federal Art Project. Although based in Reno, he exhibited and was active in California through 1940. In the 1960s he left Reno and moved to Hartford, CT where he remained until his death in 1979.
