The following, submitted October 2005, is from Stephan Bianchi, who knew the artist.
The simple story as I recall it at the moment was that Ruffin Cooper
was a short wiry fellow with long red body hair and a
close-cropped bearded face that resemble those faces carved from
coconuts. His brother was the kind, handsome, favored one who was
gone long before I met . When the brother was killed in the Viet Nam
