| | Born in Memphis, TN on April 9, 1864. In 1867 Chandler moved with her family to Oakland, CA where she grew up and attended Oakland High School. Her art studies were at the San Francisco School of Design under Amédée Joullin and Virgil Williams, and in NYC at the Cooper Union and ASL under Emil Carlsen. After her art training, she taught at Field's Seminary in Oakland for many years and lived on the Monterey Peninsula during 1906-26. Her subjects include portraits, still lifes, and landscapes.
