Terence Coyle was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts and resides in New York City. Known as a genre, as well as a landscape painter, he works in oil, watercolor and graphics. He is represented in numerous museums and galleries throughout the country and has been an Instructor of painting and figure drawing at the Art Students League since 1974.

His paintings are in the collections of the Museum of the City of New York, the New York State Museum in Albany, the National Academy of Design, Fordham University, the Museum of Performing Arts, The Billy Rose Theater Collection and in many other notable collections. He collaborated with Robert Beverly Hale, former curator of the Metropolitan Museum and fellow instructor at the Art Students League on three best selling books on figure drawing. ANATOMY LESSONS FROM THE GREAT MASTERS, ALBINUS ON ANATOMY AND MASTER CLASS IN FIGURE DRAWING. Watson-Guptill Publications.

Awards and Honors: In the summer of 2006 Coyle was invited by the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, MA to participate in a spring to fall exhibition fo the museum's large collection of the Hudson River Painters.  His plein-air landscape painting Monument Mountain over Fountain Pond, that was selected for the exhibition entitled "Power of Place" is part of his series on this subject.
