| Born in Paris, France on Dec. 10, 1883. Chovin studied under his father, Louis Chovin, and at Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He moved to San Francisco in 1906 and further studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute for two years. In his studio he worked with architect Bernard Maybeck in designing many of the sculptures for the PPIE. From this start, he sculptured and formed the decorative designs of many local buildings including the marble pillars at the St Francis Hotel, the figures adornin (showing 500 of 758 characters). |
