| New York City street scenes, especially at dusk when the city seems
quiet and traffic is framed by tall, imposing skyscrapers is the
favorite subject matter of Thomas Connolly. Although his
paintings seem totally realistic in that buildings and skylines are
identifiable, he adds artistic innovation through his handling of light
and dark and atmosphere. There is a pervasive sense of quiet and
calm, especially in his many paintings that convey rain, fog or
encroaching dusk.  (showing 500 of 1539 characters). |
