The life of illustrator Walter Appleton Clark was cut tragically short by complications following a bout with typhoid fever, but even in that time, he established himself as a mature and versatile artist. It might be argued that had he lived longer, he would have come to be regarded as highly as such renowned illustrators as Parrish and Wyeth.
