Biography from AskART:
| An illustrator, art educator, portrait and landscape painter, Walter
Cole lived primarily in New York City, and had summer studios in
Sheffield, Massachusetts and St. Augustine, and Fort Pierce,
Florida. In St. Augustine, he taught indoor and outdoor painting
classes for the Art Association and designed the Association's logo.
He studied in 1899 at the Academie Julian in Paris and in New York at
the Art Students League with Walt Kuhn. He was a Liberty Loan and
poster designer during World War II and painted a series of documentary
war scenes.
