| Born in Malden, MA on Aug. 11, 1880. Cheever studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts under Hale, Cross, Tarbell, and Benson. After moving to southern California about 1914, he had a studio on a lemon ranch in Glendale. He taught art at Santa Barbara State College from the late 1920s until 1944. His final years were spent nearby in Santa Paula where he died on April 11, 1951. He specialized in portraiture and genre scenes.
