| Active in Maine from 1805 to 1819 and then Boston from 1820 to 1831, William Codman was a portrait painter who may have been the father of portraitist Charles Codman since they were listed together in directories in 1822 and 1823. He was married to Susannah Coffin of Portland, Maine.
