| | Born in Hamburg, Germany on Feb. 27, 1907. Carlberg immigrated to the U.S. in 1928 and was based in NYC for two years. He then moved to San Francisco where he was active in the local art scene for about ten years while studying at the CSFA under Poole, Macky, and Oldfield. In 1940 he moved to Oregon. There he worked at the Portland Art Museum and taught ceramic and painting classes at Clackamas Community College. He died in Canby, OR on March 26, 1993. Social commentary, concern with the downtrodden of the world, and his love of nature are subjects of his artworks.
