| Yone Elbert Cheyno was born in Missouri on September 7, 1906. Cheyno worked in the aircraft industry with Lockheed and American Airlines before becoming a professional painter in the 1970s. He founded the American Indian and Cowboy Artists in 1974. He died in Los Angeles on January 29, 1992.
