| Agnes Nelson Day was known as a painter, and art instructor in the public school system. Day was born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1885. Her first art instruction was at the Museum of fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts. Following her instruction there she attended the Art Students League of New York, followed by additional study at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
In 1930, Day came to Houston Texas where she taught in the public schools until her retirement in 1953. Day died in a Houston hospital in 1963.
Agnes Nelson Day was a member of the Associated Artists of Houston; Contemporary Arts Association of Houston, and the Texas Fine Arts Association. Exhibitions included Annual Houston Artists Exhibition; Texas-Oklahoma General Exhibition; Texas Fine Arts Association Exhibition; Annual Texas Artists Circuit Exhibition, and the Contemporary Arts Association of Houston.
