Dannenberg produced landscapes, street scenes, still lives, and genre scenes primarily in oils. She was particularly adept at genre scenes of children, which was a favorite among art collectors of the 19th century. One of her better known paintings is Learning to Skate, a painting of young children ice skating. She also painted children in other genre settings and painted a number of paintings of children in the various public parks in Paris.
