A magazine illustrator and designer, she was born in a log cabin in Calhoun County, Illinois, and studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and the Pennsylvania Museum of Industrial Arts in Philadelphia.
She then illustrated magazines such as Country Life, Children's Vogue, Delineator, House Beautiful, and the Saturday Evening Post. Donaldson later designed fabrics, wall paper, ceramics and rugs. She also painted murals for the Ford Rotunda Building in Dearborn, Michigan, and screens for the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. Source: Obituary. The New York Times. November 14, 1961
