| | Born in Iowa on Jan. 28, 1861. Anna Mathews moved to San Francisco in 1888. After her marriage to Charles Doty, she studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute and was active in the local art scene. Following the disaster of 1906, she moved down the peninsula to Menlo Park into a home on Woodside Road where she remained until her demise on Nov. 27, 1938. A still life specialist, her works are rare.
