| Anthony de Rose (1803-1836)
A native of New York City, he studied under John Rubens Smith, and was an early student at the National Academy School, and attained Academician in 1833. He was a prolific exhibitor at the Academy between 1829 and 1833. His specialty was portraiture and historical composition, although he did an occasional still life and animal subject such as Portrait of a Short-Horned Durham Cow.
Dunlap had a short life, dying at age 33 from tuberculosis.
