A painter, printer and illustrator, Carson Donnell was from Donnellson,
Illinois, the son of Thomas Eston and Janie Smith Donnell. He
attended Washington University School of Fine Arts from 1906 to 1912,
and for two years was the medical illustrator at the St. Louis
University Collge of Physicians and Surgeons.
He returned to the area of Donnellson, where he continued to develop
his skills in his studio in an old barn next to his home, which was
